Calligraphy and Illumination

Calligraphy came for me about the time I was 30 or 31 years of age. I came incontact with alot of studies of those fancy letters and I kept it ever since and at least knowing more than 100 styles of calligraphy lettering. I use calligraphy with my art especially with decorative borders. I use it for poetry and writting the names of people as poetry.

The Middle Ages

When I say the Middle Ages I mean the time when I began to study this kind of art to learn the history of the art of illumination. But I did found alot of interest on this type of art of using gold-leaf in art and rich colors to make such elaborate illuminated manuscripts. I did study the art of Middle Ages for about 5 years.

Gold-Leafing

The art and technique of gold-leafing came to me about the age of 34. By that time I was studying intensely the art of the Middle Ages. I came incontact with a book by a British author who taught the method of gold-leafing so I began to master it and use it in my art as you'll see in this page of this website.

Commissions

Well many do ask me such questions if I could make them an illuminated manuscript or that I do commissions and my answer is yes I do make commissions for hand made original illuminated manuscripts and also any artwork using gold-leafing.

The Art of Illumination
