Welcome to my Art World
My name is Fernando Guasch. I was born in Puerto Rico July 4th 1960. My own world of art started when I was 6 years old with pencil drawings of birds and nature. As I grew up I came to know the expansive world of art through my eyes and all its beauty and wonder. I am all self-taught, yes, all self-taught in every artwork you see here on this website.
Ancient Egypt and Architecture
By the time I was 13 years old I took great interest in architecture and Ancient Egyptian Art. I copied and drew the figures and hieroglyphics of tomb paintings I saw on art books when I used to go to the public library. Within a short time I became very good on drawing art of Ancient Egypt. As for architecture, I was alot into it that I even at the time mastered the method of perspectives. But I did use architecture in my artwork and even unto this day I used architectural ornaments and decorations for my borders.
Artist Fernando Guasch
Well about me. I am a member of the Hudson Artists of New Jersey, Inc. I am also a member of The Upstairs Art Gallery managed by Marge Colavito the chairperson of the gallery. I do sometimes volunteer work at the gallery and I have my artworks exhibited there at the gallery. I been a member since 2001. My Years with Oils
My years with oils began when I was just 15 years old until my 20th year. I never had much success with oils since I found them very smelly and the turpentines of those days smelled the worsed. But none of my oil works do survive even untill this day since I only did very few that were sold. I don't do oils now and perhaps never will.
Acrylics and Watercolors
Acrylics and watercolors came for me by the time I was about 20 years old. I mostly used it for landscapes, seascapes and still lives. I used now acrylics and watercolor and also as mixed media. Now I do borders with the use of acrylics and watercolors and I use them for painting purposes on Illuminated Manuscripts. But I do enjoy working with acrylics and watercolors.
